jp.ik wins tender with UNOPS

jp.ik will deliver its Classmate PC devices to more than 47,000 students in Buenos Aires.

JP Sá Couto’s business unit dedicated to education won the United Nations Office of Project Services (UNOPS) tender, thus reaffirming its pioneering and leading international position in large-scale technology projects for Education.

UNOPS investment is encompassed in its Digital School Assistance Project and in its mission to support the implementation of humanitarian aid, development and peace building projects in the most complex contexts around the world. The focus on quality education is one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, where the digital transition of schools can play an essential role in democratizing access to devices and equal education.
Among four other operators, UNOPS chose to award the largest lot in the tender to jp.ik, worth about 12 million dollars. In a total of 47,300 education-ready laptops, the Classmate PCs will arrive in Buenos Aires schools in no more than 5 months.
As around the world, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on Argentina’s economy and highlighted the inequalities in access to technology in the country’s education. With many young people without access to devices that enables distance learning, and budget cuts penalizing these social supports, jp.ik’s devices and UNOPS’ investment will enable to drive a fairer digital transition for these thousands of students.
Present in over 70 countries and with over 20 large-scale educational projects implemented, jp.ik has reached over 16 million students and 300,000 teachers worldwide.
