If the committed goal of jp.ik is to work settled on collaborative networks and synergies for the meaningful integration of technology in education, aiming to actively empowering communities around the world towards economic development and social transformation and connecting them to the world, this is the event to be!
For three days, Innovation Africa brought together Ministers of Education, ICT, Innovation, Digital Skills and Transformation and high-level Governmental Representatives from Africa, as well as key players of the industry.

Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan and Zimbabwe are among the African Countries represented in this ninth edition of Innovation Africa.
For jp.ik, Innovation Africa is the referral forum for debating, sharing and outlining possible directions through which together, government and industry, can catalyse a sustainable and inclusive development.

jp.ik aims for sustainability, for inclusion, for development; and education is an undeniable catalyst and technology can leverage this transformation. That is why, at the African Leaders Day, Ana Paulino, Pedagogy Specialist, and André Pinto, Regional Business Manager for jp.ik, went on stage to share our approach for sustainable technological projects that foster growth through education and Pedagogy’s strategic role to leverage education changemakers’ transformation, fostering professional development and social transformation of the community.

Considering this perspective, during African Leaders Day’s presentation, jp.ik took the audience into a brief journey into the Digital Literacy Programme in Kenya, highlighting the impact of ICT in teachers’ pedagogical practices.
The Digital Literacy Programme’s accomplishment comes from a committed collaborative synergy between Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Kenya, Ministry of Information, Communication Technology of Kenya, ICTA, KICD, Teachers Service Commission, Moi University and jp.ik.

The afternoons of the second and third day were fulfilled with one-one meetings between of Innovation Africa, Ministers of Education, ICT, Innovation and Digital Skills Transformation, high level governmental Representatives and industry partners. These meetings are important moments in order to share their approaches, visions, challenges, priorities, best practices and needs of the different countries represented in this event.

On the last day of Africa’s Official Ministerial Summit, jp.ik started the second round of Panel Sessions. André Pinto, Regional Business Manager, moderated the Panel Session on Investing in Africaâ€s ICTs for Digital Skills & Transformation.
Honorable Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister of Communications of Ghana, Honorable Abdullahi Bile Noor, Minister of State for Post, Telecommunications & Technology of Somalia, Honorable Mamadi Camara, Deputy Minister of Information & Communications of Sierra Leone, and His Excellency Prof. Pedro Teta, Executive Director Sovereign Wealth Fund & Former State Secretary for ICT of Angola, committed to share the challenges, priorities and needs regarding this topic, joined this Panel Session on the need of competences aiming to respond the inevitable and undeniable digital transformation.

In short, if the purpose of participating in this type of events is to trigger cooperative networks and collective effort for the meaningful integration of technology in education, Innovation Africa is, without a doubt, the event to be, connect, and engage.

From November 28 to November 30, Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, hosted the 8th edition of Innovation Africa, which is a ministerial-level forum with a focus on education and technology This event, which is considered Africaâ€s Official Ministerial Forum, was patronized by the President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa and the Minister of Education Paul Mavima.
In this three-day event, Industry partners had the opportunity to participate in pre-scheduled meetings and committed engagement with ministers and senior government officials from over 40 countries. Countries represented at this event include, for example, South Africa, Angola, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Lesotho, Ghana, Mozambique, Kenya, Senegal and Zambia.
Therefore, Innovation Africa, which started in 2012, joins leading international Information and Communication technology (ICT) and education investors to meet and debate business with education ministers from across Sub-Saharan Africa. By hosting this event for the second time, Zimbabwe expects the country will benefit and move towards digitization in line with global trends.

In the opening ceremony of this Summit, the President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa highlighted that young people should be equipped with 21st century skills for them to participate in economic activities and sustainably contribute to global value chains. In addition, the President of Zimbabwe remembers thatthe successful delivery of information communication technologies (ICTs) in African education systems is key in driving the continent’s economic development.
In his speech, the President of Zimbabwe stressed the need of allocating“more resources towards digital literacy programmes, to provide smart e-learning devices to learners, train educators in new technologies” and added how “innovations have the ability to unlock human capital and harness the immense potential of participants. Africa should live up to its billing as the world’s emerging economic powerhouse through appropriately nurturing and rewarding young innovative talent”.Â

On the first day, known as the African Leaders Day, Nick Broda took the stage to share some lessons learned in the implementation of large-scale technology-based projects in Africa. In this presentation, also participated the Deputy Minister of Education and Human Development of Mozambique Armindo Ngunga who presented the educational project of his country to an audience of African leaders.

On the last day of this reference event, André Pinto moderated the panel of questions and answers dedicated to the theme “The binomial digital technology-digital literacy for African Students”. In this panel participated the Minister of Education of Cape Verde, Dr. Amadeu Cruz, the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Sport of Equatorial Guinea Jesus Engonga Ndong, the Minister of Education, Science and Technology of Malawi Bright Msaka, the Deputy Minister of Education and Human Development of Mozambique Dr. Armindo Ngunga and the Minister of Education of Swaziland Lady Howard Mabuza.

Innovation Africa was the stage for the launching of the “Global Education Monitoring Report 2019 – Migration, Displacement and Education: Building Bridges, not Walls” that demonstratesthe difference between creating a path of frustration and defining a strategy to pave the way for cohesion and peace.Â

Briefly, Innovation Africa is undoubtedly the event to be at, if the purpose is to talk about and reflect on global trends†topics, such as investment in education and the development of e-skills.

“Educando el presente, conectando al futuro” was the theme chosen for this International Encounter promoted by Virtual Educa, which is already in its 20th edition.
This great five-day International Meeting dedicated to Innovation for Education brought together members of Latin American governments in the areas of Education and Information and Communication Technologies, academic experts in these areas of action, teachers and educators, as well as major world players in the sector.

For jp.ik, Latin America continues to be a strategically important region in the context of business development and, therefore, participation in this type of events with great projection in this region is proportionately relevant.
In fact, and recalling the words of Jorge Sá Couto, Chairman of jp.ik, “our path towards internationalization has started in the region of Latin America, one of the most active regions in terms of the integration of ICT in education, and with which we maintain a close relationship. The tablets and laptops purpose-built for education appear more and more in classrooms, but there is still a lot to do and the teacher training for optimal use of technologies in a learning context is one of the areas to invest.“
For five days, the jp.ik booth was attended by governmental representatives from Education and Information and Communication Technologies, potential private partners for innovation in Education, academic experts, teachers, educators and students.

The Opening Ceremony of this XX International Meeting of Virtual Educa was one of the highlights of this event and the hosts of this Session were the Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology of Argentina Alejandro Finocchiaro; the Head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires Horacio Rodrígues Larreta and the Secretary-General of Virtual Educa José María Antón.

In his speech, José María Antón recalled that the purpose of the international meetings promoted by Virtual Educa is “to boost innovation in Education with the aim of promoting social transformation and sustainable development.”
The Secretary-General of Virtual Educa also emphasized the importance of technology in the context of Education: “technological advancement translates into what a computer can do, that is, evolve from an Information and Knowledge Society to a Society of the Imagination and of Creativity.”

For Alejandro Finocchiaro, “education builds wealth and promotes economic, cultural, educational and moral development.” As for the Virtual Educa International Meeting in Argentina, the Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology of Argentina points out that this is an opportunity for Argentina to “dialogue with the experiences of other countries. The changes are global and public policies are more effective with international cooperation.”Â

Horacio Rodríguez Larreta recalled that “if we think of children who are in primary school today, when they finish school they will have jobs that do not yet exist today. And, therefore, education must innovate and be updated at the same pace.”

At this Meeitng, jp.ik presented the portfolio of devices purpose-built for education and the Popup School – an ecological, potentially sustainable, durable and resistant solution that seeks to respond to the need for quality school infrastructures with a multifaceted nature, as it can be used as a community center, vocational training center or medical center outside of school hours.Â

Starting last Sunday, and for three days, Government and Industry gathered in this event under the patronage of the Minister of Information and Communication Technologies of Egypt Yasser El Kady.

The participation of jp.ik, the only Portuguese company in this event, relates to the importance of the needs, specificities and challenges of the various countries present in this Forum and for which the integration of technology in education is one of the priorities. Therefore, it is essential to ensure the presence in this type of Forum for reflection and debate as it is part of our approach to the technology market for education to continue working with these regions.

This three-day forum is a unique event for the exchange of experiences, challenges and needs of each country for the integration of technology in education systems and for the promotion of meetings with government agents from the countries represented at this event. The Ministries of Education and Technology from more than 25 countries in the Middle East and Africa were represented at this event. Among the countries represented were Cyprus, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Uganda.

In the words of the Minister of Information and Communication Technologies of Egipt Yasser El Kady “the summit is of great importance to the Government of Egypt and especially the meetings-based format allowing for productive face-to-face engagement between government, civil society and industry partners. The summit has our own high-level involvement from multiple ministers, senior government officials and stakeholders representing Egypt”.
Thus, pre-scheduled meetings between ministers, government officials and industry partners were held at MENA Innovation. In addition, the event was also the stage of panel sessions dedicated to key themes within the scope of the Sustainable Development Goals; investment in Information and Communication Technologies; the development of digital skills; professional development; and innovation and research in the field of technology for education.
For Jorge Sá Couto, Chairman of jp.ik, “our work to promote the sustainable development of communities through the integration of Technology in Education is as irreversible as it is fundamental”. And adds: “the success of the major education projects implemented by jp.ik results from the Inspiring Knowledge Ecosystem, a model that combines three crucial pillars for the design of large-scale educational projects with profound and long-term impact: engineering, pedagogy and technology.”

On Sunday, at the Government Leaders Day, Jerónimo Silva represented jp.ik and conducted a presentation on “Successful Large Scale Projects Implementation in Education”. For one hour, jp.ik share our vision and expertise in a sector that is both changeable and challenging as the education technology sector is to a predominantly governmental audience.

On the last day of the event, Jerónimo Silva returned to the stage and moderated a Q&A panel session under the theme “ICT Ecosystem for Digital Transformation”. The Minister of Communications & Information Technology of Egypt Dr Amr Talaat, the Minister of Communications of Iraq Hassan Kazem Al-Rashed, the Minister of Telecommunications of Lebanon Jamal Al-Jarrah, the , Minister of Telecommunications of Djibouti Abdi Youssouf Sougeh and the Deputy Minister for Technology Industry & Digital Capacities of Saudi Arabia Dr Ahmed Al-Theneyan attended this panel session.
Themes such as the importance of an authentically inclusive education; productive partnerships towards successful ICT-based education projects or the identification of major educational reforms for the development of digital skills increasingly imperative in a labor market undergoing a mind-boggling transformation driven by technology were addressed during this one-hour panel session.

The integration of technology into education is as irreversible as it is fundamental. These events are an excellent forum for sharing experiences, challenges and best practices in integrating technology into education.
In addition, these forums have a networking component that is relevant to understand the state of the art of technology in education in certain regions of the planet; in this particular case – Middle East and North Africa.

This year for jp.ik was a very special event. This year jp.ik celebrates its 10º anniversary in the field of Education. There are ten years of expertise, challenges, amazing experiences and best practices that build up jp.ik to become unquestionably the number one in implementing large-scale education projects, benefiting more than 15 million students and empowering more than 300 thousand teachers all around the world.

For this reason, this year, at Bett, in London, jp.ik launched its global brand for Education, JP, which stands out for jp.ikâ€s solutions, which will continue to transform the educational paradigm and revolutionize the way students learn.

Therefore, jp.ik seized the first day of Bett, the first and biggest event of the year dedicated to technology specifically developed for education, to celebrate the arrival of JP brand. At five o’clock on the first day of the event, many of the partners joined the jp.ik team to commemorate the arrival of the new JP brand with a Port of Honor.

In turn, the JP TRIGONO range was designed to reflect the active lives of university professors and students and its main markets are Europe, USA and Latin America. In this first quarter of the year comes the JP TRIGONO V401 to provide an excellent user experience, guiding a more effective interaction with the device. Windows 10 S integration improves user experience, performance, and productivity; factors crucial to education.

With this celebration at Bett, jp.ik announces to the world the arrival of JP, its global brand for Education and holds the veil over what will be the year 2018, which promises to be an unforgettable year for the jp.ik team.

As Jorge Sá Couto, Chairman of jp.ik, emphasizes, “We quickly became leaders in the implementation of large-scale educational projects and now we are number one in implementing large-scale education projects.” Our experience and boldness allow us to get further and further and do what no one else does. The arrival of the JP brand marks a new level of our journey, and we believe it is time to share and that is why the JP brand was born!

The 24 is the first day of Bett and the last day of the EWF, so many of the EWF ministerial participants visit Bett to observe and experience the latest and most innovative education technologies announced at this event.

On Friday, jp.ik received the visit from Baroness Gloria Hooper, who came to visit our stand. After receiving the invitation to visit jp.ik at Bett, Baroness Gloria Hooper, Member of the House of Lords for the Conservative Party, was delighted with the Popup School and its ability to respond to the scarcity of quality infrastructures.

This four-day event, the first of the year, proves to be an excellent opportunity to meet with potential public and private partners and long-term partners. Bett is also an incredible stage to present the latest and most innovative solutions developed for education.

In close collaboration with Microsoft, Maria Fisher, an ICT teacher and certified educator at Microsoft, was at jp.ikâ€s booth for four days to demonstrate the potential of Microsoft 10 S and to answer any questions. In addition, JP Classmate PC® LEAP T303 and JP Trigono V401 for demonstration were displayed at the Microsoft stand. In fact, Windows 10 S integration improves user experience, performance and productivity, which is crucial for Education.

That is why jp.ik supports Windows 10 S and Pro on these new devices, allowing the user to regain control of the device using the fingerprint sensor.

In recognition of this close collaboration, Anthony Salcito, Microsoft’s Vice President for Education, visited the jp.ik booth on Wednesday morning.

Of this edition, some of the keywords that mark the trends for this year are the augmented reality; collaboration; creativity STEM; based learning; real-world science; connect, engage, learn; Communication; troubleshooting; train educators: inspire students; immersive learning environment; learning studio; and classroom of the future.

After this four-day event, one of the main ideas is that teachers are faced with the growing demands of students in the digital field, the need to innovate and develop highly immersive and interactive learning environments.
After four days, it is clear education is at a decisive turning point. However, as the challenges arising from a growing labor skills gap, the opportunities brought by technology point to a single path:Â transforming education for the next generations.Â

The Education World forum (EWF) brings together ministers and their senior advisers, who represent over two-thirds of the worldâ€s population, to debate the future of education, including the policies in order to achieve it.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), the Department for Education (DfE), the Department for International Trade (DIT), the Department for International Development (DfID), the British Council and the EWF industry partners support this highly acclaimed event. For its turn, jp.ik is one of the few industry partners selected to attend this Event.

The Education World Forum (EWF) offers three days of inspiring insight from leading education pioneers, policy makers and education experts. The event counts with debate panels, keynote sessions and opening sessions given by education ministers themselves as part of an honest assessment of countries†common issues and challenges.

This year some of the themes opened to debate were, for instance, the links between developing skills of global competence and both individual and national success; how to fund and foster education change or how to prepare students for success. In addition, the influence economics have on education and influence can education have on economics; how to provide development for existing teachers and how to prepare new teachers for working through the 4th industrial revolution; and, what are the challenges for equity when it comes to gender, ethnicity, disability and relative wealth were also brought to discussion.

Nuno Oliveira, jp.ik VP WW Sales & Marketing, participated in the Ministerial Exchange on Tuesday afternoon dedicated to the theme – “How can and should policy be developed to enable education equity.” In his five minutes†speech, Nuno Oliveira shared how Popup Schoolâ€s solution can support equity, contributing to the achievement of a quality education for all.

The Popup School is a paradigmatic example of the work developed by jp.ik, whose prototype was on display at EWF 2018. This modular classroom, which uses renewable energy, is equipped with the most innovative technology and its implementation is a fast and simple process, providing a sustainable educational center for communities that need a quality infrastructure.

After three days of debating the future of education, a new buzzword came to life – global competencies. Teachers need to give their students lessons in “global competencies”, such as how to work well with people from different cultures alongside with Math, English and Chemistry lessons, if they are to succeed in todayâ€s digitizing world, which is in constant transformation.

“Global competencies” is not just a new buzzword, nor is it something restricted to the small elite. In fact, the agenda is especially relevant for developing countries where digitalization is arising and where there are greater risks of radicalization, something that the global competence agenda may be able to help to mitigate.

The presentation event of the Ranking of the 200 largest technology companies in Portugal took place at Museu das Comunicações on October 24th and gathered more than a hundred guests.

The digital transformation was the central theme of this meeting, exposing some experiences of the so-called traditional companies that are taking advantage of the opportunities brought by the so talked about digitalization in order to produce more and more efficiently to export more and better.
The great moment of this event was, without a doubt, the delivery of the Awards to the Companies that stand out the most in the national technology sector.
For JP Sá Couto, this was another special moment. JP Sá Couto, a company of the jp.group, won the category “Top Score” in the context of the Award “The Largest in Portugal Technology.

For Ricardo Ferreira, General Manager of jp.di – Distribution Business Unit of JP Sá Couto – this award is “another stimulus to continue with the work we have been developing, giving attention to a wide range of variables and not only in the growth of turnover.

Virtual Educa is a multidisciplinary initiative whose focus is the promotion of good practices in Innovation applied to Education with the aim of actively contributing to social transformation and sustainable development.
Created in 2001 by the Organization of American States (OAS), this multilateral initiative is a forum for the exchange of experiences and good practices in the context of building authentic knowledge societies.

For the second time, Colombia hosted the International Meeting of Virtual Educa that this year marked its eighteenth edition. From June 13rd to 16th Bogotá was the capital of Innovation for Education as a catalyst for social transformation.

The Minister for Information and Communication Technologies David Luna hosted the Inaugural Ceremony and, on behalf of the Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, highlighted the relevance of the technological interconnection with Education for a quality Education in order to promote quality education, that is, accessible to all.

In his speech, David Luna shared that, on that first day of this International Meeting, this message takes on a more special importance.

The Secretary for Development of the Organization of American States (OAS), Ambassador Neil Parsan and General Secretary of Virtual Educa Juan María Anton also participated in the Inaugural Ceremony of this 18th International Meeting of Virtual Educa.

Once again, jp.ik, a member of the Board of Trustees of Virtual Educa, was present at this amazing event in the context of promoting innovative educational projects.
In the framework of this 18thÂ edition of Virtual Educa, jp.ik made two great moments in this Meeting of Technological Innovation for Education. On the morning of the second day of the event, jp.ik joined the panel of speakers of the Multilateral Forum dedicated to the discussion and exchange of experiences in the field of good practices in public-private cooperation.
For one hour the speakers shared experiences and challenges inherent in the formalization of public-private partnerships aimed at implementing national initiatives.
In this Forum, jp.ik presented the first educational project implemented in Portugal. The development of this pioneering project was driven by cooperation between public and private entities.
This public-private cooperation was attended by national telecommunications companies. In addition, this cooperation allowed many Portuguese families to have access to a computer for the very first time, which makes this project, even today, a revolutionary educational project. Also participated in this Forum, among others, the Colombian company Aulas Amigas, Oracle, Genius Plaza and Lego Education.

On the third day, jp.ik, together with RENATA – National Academic Network and Advanced Technologies, participated in a Plenary Cooperative Session with the goal of sharing our mission and vision in the Education segment. In this session, jp.ik presented some of our Education projects with the purpose of sharing evidence of the transformative impact that technology has on the learning experience and on the construction of knowledge in the 21stÂ century.

The brand for Education mymaga was also present in the 2017 edition of the International Meeting of Virtual Educa within the framework of the partnership established between jp.ik and Ricoh for the distribution of technological equipment mymaga designed for Education in the Latin American region.
This presence in collaboration with Ricoh Latin America marks the beginning of the partnership in the distribution of computer equipment for educational purposes in this region of the planet.

For jp.ik, these Meetings promoted by Virtual Educa are excellent forums for establishing contacts with governmental agents with the aim of triggering cooperation with these groups in the implementation of national initiatives of Technology Based Education.
In addition, these events are also excellent forums for the exhibition and dissemination of our activity, in particular, our most emblematic educational projects, which in turn reflect our vision of disseminating quality education. Thus, during four days several governmental entities visited our stand. In this fourth edition of Inspire, an interview was published with the Colombian Minister of Information and Communication Technologies David Luna, which underlines the importance of technology to leverage the education system.

The Senator of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, principal mentor of the QUIPUS project, Nelida Sifuentes, also attended the jp.ik†s stand, taking the opportunity to address the surprising evolution of this educational project implemented in Bolivia.
During this brief visit, Senator Nélida Sifuentes also received the new edition of the magazine Inspire as a sign of gratitude for her collaboration for reserving some of her time for an interview through which explains the evolution of the Bolivian educational project and evolution Of the Bolivian Society in terms of digital literacy.

A delegation of governmental agents from Peru also visited jp.ikâ€s stand with the goal of holding a brief meeting through which they could learn about our technological equipment designed specifically for Education and better understand the articulation and importance of the Inspiring Knowledge Ecosystem In the process of designing and developing a national education initiative.

The final numbers of this Meeting express its enormous success. For four days, this International Meeting gathered about 30,000 attendees and more than 25,000 views of live broadcasts were transmitted through Virtual Educa YouTube’s channel. There were also more than one hundred workshops. As for the participation of government agents, 31 members of the Latin American Parliament and 42 secretaries of Education and ICT from all Latin America participated in this event.
